The 100,000 Strong Foundation is a nonprofit organization launched in 2013 to strengthen US-China relations through Mandarin language learning and study abroad. The Foundation leads a national movement to ensure the next generation of US leaders is equipped to engage effectively with China, a global strategic power, the second largest economy in the world, and America’s fastest growing trade partner. Backed by high-level support from both Washington and Beijing, US governors and members of Congress, and American and Chinese business leaders, the Foundation is committed to dramatically increasing the number and diversity of young Americans learning Mandarin and gaining meaningful experience in US-China relations.

Jonathan Krane, KraneShares CEO, serves on the advisory council for the 100,000 Strong Foundation. Jonathan was drawn to the organization because its mission is closely aligned with his own life experiences. Jonathan moved to China in 2004 during a pivotal time for the country’s development. He founded a media and entertainment company in China before the 2008 Olympics and grew the company to span 5 cities and 200 employees. He learned the key to success in China is building trust, win-win relationships, and most importantly: communication with his partners.

KraneShares believes that investment between the U.S. and China has the potential to unite both societies and that non-profit organizations like the 100k Strong Foundation need support from smart, caring, like-minded business people from both countries to ensure the health of this relationship. By simultaneously engaging prominent US and Chinese students and stakeholders, the Foundation is shaping a more constructive future for US-China relations.
